Born in Annecy, France in 2011, the Maxi Race is now a global outdoor sports brand with six trail running events in Europe, Asia, South-America and South Africa.

As South Africa’s version of this global trail family, Maxi Race Cape Winelands is run over five races (75k, 45k, 30k, 20k, 10k) and a 5k Fun Run across beautiful farms, reserves & mountains between Franschhoek & Stellenbosch over the first weekend of October.

Covid restrictions kept us to 775 runners in 2021 (2020 – 474, 2019 – 340), much less than the public demand for entries.

This only strengthened our resolve as we built up to over 1800 runners in all our events in 2023.

We want to be Africa’s best trail run as we anticipate to welcome over a 2000 runners to all our races this year.
